Project background
Client: Aldi
Client industry: Global retail
Audience: Residents of Amersham
MPC partnered with Aldi on the PR and community consultation on a number of new store projects, supporting Aldi in their ambitious plans to expand and provide“Aldi’s everyday amazing” to more towns throughout the UK. This one, was for a new store in Amersham which included designed materials such as a committee briefing, newsletters, an SCI report and supporting consultation website.
The Statement of Community Involvement was created to inform local stakeholders, councillors and interested parties, how and when the community have been engaged throughout the consultation stage of the planning process and the results of these engagements. SCI’s are necessary documents in the planning process. Typically very content heavy, a large part of the design challenge is to create a clean unadorned design, making a lot of content, more digestible for the reader.

The community newsletter with website address was mailed to Amersham post codes as an engagement piece informing local residents about Aldi’s proposals for a new store in their local area and how their support could make it happen. Visitors to the website were invited to “Show their support” by filling in the online feedback form, where their comments would be supplied to the local council. They were asked why they would like an Aldi retail store in their local community.
